I see my portfolio drop in lots of red ink then recover a bit these few weeks. In the past, I have also seen the reverse.
Its all a paper loss. But more importantly, i still collect dividends during this time and allows me to reinvest to get more units.
An old army friend ask me how to get money to keep on buying. My answer: your portfolio is your cash cow. You must make sure it does its job.
And just make sure one does not have a real cash flow problem for the day to day expenses.
It pays to be invested throughout.

Agreed. I am seeing my portfolio value dropping and swinging in the past few month also, but the dividends keep coming. With regular buying of new units, the passive income continues to trend upwards regardless of market condition.
